The Best Web Videos of the Year 2008 #1
Wednesday, December 31st, 2008#1. MUTO
Creatively crafted by graffiti artist BLU during stints in Buenos Aires and Baden in 2007 and 2008, this is simply the all around best video of the year. It’s not the most viewed, it doesn’t star overly cute or embarrassingly funny kids/animals/old people, there’s no celebrity or even pseudo-celebrity nudity, but “MUTO” takes graf to the next level as the most original, mind-boggling, awe-inspiring piece of the year. My congratulations, as well as admiration, to the innovative Blu for creating a masterpiece and inspiring others with a truly unique work of art.
And here’s the final rundown before the year’s final countdown:
#4. SNL’s Jizz in My Pants with bonus MacGruber vids
#5. Gnarls Barkley “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul” directed by Chris Milk
#6. Bruce Lee Plays Ping Pong With Nunchuks
#7. Barack Obama, Shepard Fairey, Z-Trip, and Me
#9. Star Wars According to a Three Year Old
#10. Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifiniakis and John Hamm
Congratulations to all the web videos/films and their creators that I’ve congratulated on this list of 2008’s best, I look forward to 2009’s crop as they’ll surely continue in the rich tradition of wasting our time on the interwebs!
Seriously though, a gracious thank you to all of you who’ve visited Chumpchampion in this it’s first year of existence. I hope I was able to show you an interesting event to check out, some art that was cool to look at, or even inspired you in some way, good and bad it’s all made it truly worth while. I’ll do my best in continuing to bring you more in 2009 or until this website starts to write itself. THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE AND HAVE A HAPPY NEW YOU!
