Two Trailer Day Thursday: Watchmen, 500 Days of Summer
Thursday, March 5th, 2009A few weeks ago today, I started the Two Trailer Day Thursdays segment where I refresh your memories with a trailer for a movie of note coming out the upcoming weekend as well as another for a future film to be on the lookout for. No real need for the refreshing part this week but a looker of a film for sure this summer…
- Watchmen (in theaters tomorrow, March 6th)
The inevitable movie adaptation for one of the most influential and groundbreaking graphic novels in comic book history finally comes out this weekend. Published by DC Comics back in 1986 and ‘87 as a 12 issue mini-series, Watchmen was the brainchild of comic genius Alan Moore (V for Vendetta, Swamp Thing, From Hell) and eventually set the stage for the age of comic books with a darker tone and gritty realism. Now you may not be a fan of director Zach Snyder’s stylized action (300, Dawn of the Dead), but it might just work within Moore’s stylized 80’s world in which heroes were no longer welcome.
- 500 Days of Summer (in theatres July 24th)
Summer romances often go wrong. But when a film that’s ‘not a love story’ stars Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt and is directed by Marc Webb there’s many things that can go right (see above). I’ve had the pleasure of having edited with Marc on a few music videos (AFI, Regina Spector) when he was already an accomplished music video veteran and I’m personally geeked to see what he’s going to bring to the big screen. Seeing 500 Days of Summer this summer will make this summer a summer to remember. Of all the summers. Ever. Summer, One Crazy.
