Get Lifted With “Gifted” From N.A.S.A.

Friday, March 27th, 2009

The other day the web almost imploded when the trailer for Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are was released. Now Spike’s younger brother Sam (Squeak E. Clean of N.A.S.A.) continues the owning of the internets with his latest contribution, “Gifted” featuring Kanye West, Santigold, and Lykke Li. Just like the four other tracks released from their debut album The Spirit of Apollo, they’ve released an accompanying music video. This time around it features the animations of Three Legged Legs and is once again guided by the ever steady Syd Garon.

And here’s Sam talking about how he and Ze managed to bring all the talent together to create the year’s most collaborative album:

Cat Shit One a.k.a. I Just Twoed My Pants

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Yet another reason I love the Japanese: crazy-ass, ultra-violent, animated adventures such as Cat Shit One. What exactly is Cat Shit One you ask, find out below and be amazed:

Published in Japan in 1998, Cat Shit One is based on a three volume manga series by Motofumi Kobayashi and was originally written about the Vietnam War. But in this animated version of the story, due out in 2010, Cat Shit One revolves around the Iran hostage crisis and will be renamed Apocalypse Meow for American audiences. Bad decision America, Cat Shit One absolutely kills Apocalypse Meow when it comes to naming a cartoon about rabbits and camels killing each other with machine guns.
