Sundance Comes Calling for A Tribe Called Quest!

The blood, sweat and tears we’ve endured on our quest making the definitive film about A Tribe Called Quest has finally received it’s just due as our film, Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest, has been officially announced as a contender in the 2011 Sundance Film Festival!!! This has been a true passion project for me as Tribe is my favorite hip hop group of all time and for this labor of love to be validated by being invited to premiere and compete in the largest independent film festival in the United States has me going “Oh My God”! And although we may have dug deep to “Find a Way” for our film to reach the masses, this is no means a time for any sort of “Electric Relaxation” as we still have much to do before our film actually hits theaters. But it’s been an amazing journey so far as we continue to “Check the Rhime” with the Questers, Mike Rap, Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf, Motion Theory, James Blagden, (more on the latter two to come soon!) and our entire Tribe team putting in the work behind the scenes. And that my friends, as corny as it may sound, is the “Scenario”!

See the complete list of films in competition at here.

Get your Tribe music fix in a new/old way from the Bay area’s DJ Platurn in his sample-tastic Tribe mix here (at the bottom of the page).

Also…check some publicity stills from the film and behind the scenes below.
