SATURDAY (July 10): Wild Thing @ Roberts & Tilton

Friday, July 9th, 2010

A Wild Thing group comes to town as wildly talented artists Noah Davis, Chris Johanson and Kehinde Wiley amongst many more attack Roberts & Tilton in Culver City.

From Roberts & Tilton:

“Roberts & Tilton is pleased to present Wild Thing, an exhibition of works comprised of various approaches to what is considered wild and untamable, yet simultaneously conceptual and laborious. The works included in Wild Thing are not the embodiment or exacting replica of any one “wild thing,” but of any and all things considered “wild.” By presenting a selection of international and local artists, we come to realize that no distance or variation in culture has the ability to jeopardize the absolute integrity or the personal experience of what each viewer might consider “wild.”

Wild Things
Opening reception: Saturday, July 10th, 6-8pm
Roberts & Tilton
5801 Washington Blvd. Culver City, 90232
Show runs from July 10 through August 14, 2010

It’s a GOOD Day in Keith Scharwath’s Neighborhood

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Drove back late last night from an amazing San Francisco food-fueled (Molinari’s, Pizzeria Delfina) shoe and shirt-hunting (Upper Playground, Shoebiz) art-viewing and buying (Coverage on Le Merde at Super 7 coming soon!) weekend getaway with friends (old, new and bunny-centric) in my former SF neighborhoods only to come back completely drained late last night to my trusty Los Feliz hood. Yet still, the price of a good time in SF is always worth the trip up north.

And speaking of neighborhoods and goodness…this quarter’s issue of GOOD Magazine not only focuses on the creativeness, uniqueness and renewal of the hoods we live in, but it’s also guest art directed by my good chum and Beautiful Losers graphic designer Keith Scharwath. As chief creator at GOOD last month, Keith was able to work on one of his biggest and most ambitious projects to date along with recruiting over 70 of his favorite artists and designers including: Chris Johanson, Trevor Burks, Jesse Spears, Jeff Canham, Maxwell Hoyoke-Hirsch, Philippe Nicolas, Leif Parsons, Scott Barry and Micah Lidberg among others.

Below is a visual peek at the issue Keith so proudly helped create. Be sure to check out the actual GOOD neighborhoods issue on newsstands and online now!

Click images below or here for details and more from Keith on his Carwash blog.

GOOD Issue 019-The Neighborhoods Issue

About the four different covers (above) from Keith:

“For the art in the magazine, we selected many different visual creators to show us their unique perspective on what a neighborhood is. Valeriya Volkova (Brooklyn, NY), Lorin Brown (Los Angeles, CA), Miss Lotion (Copenhagen) and Public School (Austin, TX) all created covers for GOOD’s first multiple-cover issue. You can learn a bit more about the covers here. And they are all available as prints from Society6.

And a bit of the Scharwath golden touch thrown in for good measure (pun intended).
