You never know what you’re gonna get from the Seattle based rapper/comedian/weirdo/performance artist Reggie Watts. In this case you get a whole lot of “Fuck Shit Stack”, and that’s a good thing. The music video directed by Duncan Skiles and Ben Dickinson promotes Reggie’s upcoming Comedy Central special produced by Looseworld coinciding with the release of his CD/DVD Why Shit So Crazy, in stores May 18th. (special thanks to Mr. Matthies for the fuck shit stacking!)
These days it seems like the only “news” anchors you can rely on are the ones on a comedy channel. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart once again takes Fox “News” to task and calls it like it is, this time finding inconsistencies in what Fox likes to call “Fair and Balanced” reporting.
At this point it’s like shooting fish in a barrel made of fish with a bowling ball gun. Seriously Fox News, who are you kidding? Just drop the whole “Fair and Balanced” act already, rename yourselves the Republican News Network and call it a day. I promise you, you’ll feel much feel much better about yourself knowing that you have at least a shred dignity.
Just released yesterday on CD, iTunes, DVD (which contains an extra 30 minutes not seen on TV), and for free to listen to here at Spinner.com (sorry Aziz, but it’s for the people).
See crazy azz Aziz discuss more on Conan (thread counts), Letterman (Kanye) and Jimmy Kimmel (R. Kelly).
It seems as though Jon Stewart and the writers of The Daily Show are feeling quite generous this holiday season as they neatly wrapped our nation’s health care woes in a four minute gift of comedy filled with irrational protesters, appropriate film clips and of course our favorite senator who doesn’t like the idea of helping people in need, Joe Lieberman.
I’ll leave this week’s posts where I started them, in the trusty hands of Jon Stewart and his Daily Show taking on those mother foxers at Fox News. With Glen Beck on leave to take care of some internal organ issues, Jon does his best to step in and supply America with the classic Beckisms we so richly deserve: nonsensical associations; irrational thoughts; wild emotions paired with wild gesticulations; and of course, Beck’s bread and butter-the abundant use of fear mongering. Get well soon Glen!
Last week The Daily Show with Jon Stewart once again outfoxed the number one cable “news” channel, Fox News, by owning them with the facts supplied by Fox themselves. It goes something like this: in the ongoing battle between The White House and Fox News over the network’s coverage of the administration, Fox cries censorship and argues that their opinion based shows should not be considered part of their “news” scheduling. The only problem with that logical reasoning is that it pretty much discredits most of their programming. Jon Stewart takes Fox News to task, Glen Beck fake cries, the good guys win, and as usual, comedy ensues.
Shepard and Steven square off on The Colbert Report
By now you’ve all come across Shepard Fairey’s iconic Obama posters/stickers somewhere. Chances are you probably even have one or the other. But even with all that free publicity people have given Shepard on their car bumpers and neighborhood windows, he’s been in the public’s eye more than ever lately. With an appearance on last Thursday’s The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, Time Magazine’s Person of the Year cover, as well as the Manifest Hope: DC Gallery having just completed it’s limited weekend run leading up to Tuesday’s Inauguration, Shepard Fairey is literally everywhere. Of course Shepard has been around for a while now, putting up his work all over the streets and galleries of the world. But, have you ever seen another street artist enjoy this much success off of one singular piece? And in such little time? In just over a year, Shepard has gone from being the dude responsible for the Andre the Giant Has a Posse stickers/pastings to the guy who helped make a senator from Illinois into an instant icon. And that is truly some amazing Progress.
