For the past week everyone’s been going on and on about Tron and I’ve been like, “Yeah, Dave Chappellewas hilarious as Tron but that was like, five years ago.” Then I saw the Tron Legacy trailer in 3D this weekend and I was like, “Ohhh yeah…The DudeTron.”
I almost forgot that Chumpchampion is just a mere statistic. But thanks to the info graphic The State of The Internet as constructed by Jess3, I’m reminded that neither myself or my blog is anything special

Ah the classic, and constant, nerd debate of which is better-the Wars or the Trek. For most of my life Star Wars was by far and away the choice for movies starting with “Star” in the title, but these days I’m happy to say that Star Trek has both raised and sped up the sci-fi film bar to warp speed. God, I’m such a dork.
From the film’s creator billywarp1 (of course) who had some extra time on his hands apparently:
“My friends and I were bored one day during Christmas Break and decided to make a quick movie. We shot this in 30 minutes and only used 8 minutes of tape. I then proceeded to spend 3 and a half weeks putting in the visuals for the film. Special thanks to the Action Essentials 2 kit from Videocopilot.net, and Jason Lee for his Enterprise model.”

In the gruesomely awesome animated short Homunculus, conceived and directed by Humble artist Sam Stephens, mold never looked so good. Or bad. Or evil. Or cannibalistic. Mmm…mold…
An excerpt from the multi-faceted production company Humble:
“Conceived of and directed by Sam Stephens, Homunculus is a dark and twisted fable of spontaneous generation and untrammeled id. Taking its title from the Latin word for “Little Human”, the piece is an associative mashup between the two concepts behind the word: The first being middle-age alchemical beliefs that “little men” could be spontaneous generated from dead or decaying matter. The second being Carl Jung’s usage as a personification of pure id. These ideas, combined with our love of Dutch still life’s “beautiful decay,” sowed the seeds for this unique little monster of a film.”
So there’s this new movie out called “Avatar” directed by newcomer James Cameron, right? Well apparently they used some crazy new technology to shoot it because it was filmed on a moon called Pandora in the Alpha Centauri star system which is pretty far at 4.4 light years from Earth. I mean filming on a moon, let alone an entirely different star system has got to be a first. And you know it’s all fact because Sigourney Weaver narrated this short doc which explores the plant and animal life on Pandora and Sigourney Weaver doesn’t just go and make things up. (via Wired)
Just in time for the holidays comes Alma, an endearing Pixar-esque animated short film which calculatingly turns creepy in no less than five minutes flat. I’m talking “doll creepy”, which is slightly less creepy than “clown creepy” but on par with “puppet creepy”. Written and directed by Pixar alumRodrigo Blaas, Alma has won several awards this year and is sure to win several more for the nightmares it will be leaving behind during it’s limited online run (viewings end December 31st).
In the time honored tradition of circulating outrageously obscene yet highly entertaining NSFW animations on the internets, I present to you the music video for Truckers Delight by Flairs. Prepare to be offended, amused or amusingly offended-all in glorious 8-bit naughtiness!
“Truckers Delight animated video clip directed by newcomer wunderkid Jérémie Perin (Premiere Heure) who takes the song’s title (a tribute to those little pleasures that the lonely truck- driver indulges himself in) and takes it to the next level. Think Spielberg’s Duel + Russ Meyer’s Faster Pussycat Kill Kill! and Marc Dorcel’s wildest fantasies. All warped into an 8-bit Sega era style graphic. And this clumsy and somehow pretentious description doesn’t even come close to what you’re about to see: it’s très funny,très dirty, -très sexy. Très Flairs indeed.”
