I just couldn’t resist the over-riding urge to post this through the weekend: moustached Euro baby singing the disco club smash hit record “I Was Drunk” by Riva Starr featuring Noze. And with that, I bid you an awesome weekend!
On last night’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, the country’s most trusted newscaster borrowed a page from Glen Beck’s faulty Fox playbook and once again took to the chalkboard to give us exactly one million reasons why Fox News may not be as “fair and balanced” as they claim to be. Shocker.
When you’re going back to Cali on an early cross country flight you get posts like this one. Apologies in advance to the easily annoyed and vegans but congratulations to the weirdos who love the “udderly” insane. Via the brain-damaged UK animator Cyriak who states that “no cows were harmed during the making of this video, though their future prospects probably aren’t as optimistic.”
Our favorite (and fellow) space cadets Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon of the world famous N.A.S.A. crew, strike again with yet another mouth watering music video with “Strange Enough” from their debut album The Spirit of Apollo.
Another mini masterpiece from the mind of French-Canadian stop motion superstar Patrick Boivin.
From monsieur Boivin:
“When I was a kid, there are two things I wanted badly and never got… A real dog and a Kenner AT-AT Walker.

Early last year we followed up our documentary Beautiful Losers with a short film just as inspiring and heartfelt about Sister Corita Kent-a revolutionary nun who shared her unique vision of creating art with her friends and students in 1960’s Los Angeles. During a time when the Catholic church was none to pleased with these new and off-beat ideas, Sister Corita excelled. The film, titled Become a Microscope-90 Statements on Sister Corita, was created in association with the Corita Art Center in honor of what would have been Sister Corita’s 90th birthday.
Crafted by most of our Beautiful Losers crew, the film was deftly directed by Aaron Rose; produced by do-it-all-man Jon Barlow; features a hauntingly beautiful original score by Money Mark and Becky Stark; great graphic design by our great pal Keith Scharwath; stellar sonics by sound designer extraordinaire Eddie Kim; Corita’s work come to life through a small After Effects army including Alex Dervin, Max Erdenberger, Miguel Bautista and a ton of other skilled individuals; and edited by yours truly-me (Lenny Mesina).
Graphic design created by Keith Scharwath. See more of Keith’s “90 statements” here.
Corita’s art also received the After Effects treatment courtesy of Alex Dervin, Miguel Bautista and many, many more.
We were also very fortunate to have access to an archive of material made about Sister Corita including films by Haskell Wexler, Baylis Glascock, Cal Bernstein and Alex Singer.
The color red loving San Francisco based artist Alex Varanese turned his desk into an 8-bit stop motion video game in the aptly titled short My Desk is 8-Bit and now I wish mine was too.
From Mr. Varanese:
“I recently found myself wondering what a video game might look like in the form of a stop motion animation. While a normal person’s response to such a question would of course be “who gives a shit?” I possess few of the qualities typically associated with normalcy and was irrevocably compelled to find out. This is the result.
Also, I’d like to think I’m the first person to be inspired by Michel Gondry AND R-Type on the same project.”
In honor of last weeks Star Wars Day, Youtuber Freddie Wong and his band of rebel scum put their padawan nerdling to the test by going through the right of passage that every After Effects artist must go through to become a true post production Jedi master-make a lightsaber film. A lightsaber film called Jedi A-holes which, I believe, may be short for Jedi Assholes.
Also…check out their behind the scenes video and see how simply and efficiently they created the lightsaber effects and as to why Jedi Douchebags (a more fitting title IMO) was too negative of a term.
Just like you and I, movie star actors use their electronic computer machines to determine their best dance moves.Paul Rudd is no different. Take a peek at Paul’s personal files as he trips the light fantastic with his latest jig “Nude Tayne” courtesy of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!
