Get on the Floor for Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor”

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Major Lazer (Diplo and Switch) does it again for Mad Decent, this time following up their last azz kicking video with some major dancehall daggering. No stranger to outlandish music videos himself (watch Dance Floor Dale get downright nasty when you have some privacy), Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! directs this clip which features a virtual house full of some of Jamaica’s best daggerers, dancers, and funny face makers.

Headlining the night’s shenanigans is the world premiere of Eric’s new music video for Major Lazer/Diplo for “Pon De Floor” (check out Major Lazer’s first azz kicking video here).

Major Lazer Kickz Major Azz

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Equipped with a lazer for an arm and a beret atop his head, Mad Decent’s Major Lazer (a.k.a. Diplo and Switch) takes the battle to vampires, mummys, and knife-wielding bad dudes who drool a lot. The djs’ inaugral music video, which looks like it was ripped from the pages of a Heavy Metal magazine or Ralph Bashki cartoon, features the lovely Santigold and Mr. Lexx. Watch, be amazed, save your money for the action figures, and always remember: “Gunz don’t kill people, Lazers do”.

Album available June 16!

Jaydiohead Makes the Mashup Officially Dead

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

First there was Danger Mouse as he blew everyone’s mind with the Grey Album, a virtuoso mashup of epic proportions using Jay-Z’s Black Album and The Beatles White Album. Soon after, Diplo and Girl Talk surfaced and continued to mash proper as they created high quality remixes heard on dance floors around the world. Now comes some dude named Minty Fresh Beats and his offering of Jaydiohead. You think to yourself, ”Hmm…pretty questionable album title…but so what? I love Jay-Z and Radiohead, what could possibly go wrong?” Unfortunately soon after you listen to the first few tracks you may find out, as I did, that you now actually hate some dude named Minty Fresh Beats. Well, at least he tried. And it’s free.

Download Jaydiohead here, if you dare.
