The Creators Project is Coming

Monday, June 14th, 2010

The Creators Project is an online network from Vice and Intel dedicated to providing the creative insights of the world’s most creative creators across all forms of media. Initially focusing mostly on musicians such as Diplo, Richie Hawtin, Phoenix, James Lavelle, CSS, Mark Ronson, and our boys N.A.S.A., The Creators Project expand their horizons this summer to include filmmakers, visual artists, and of course live music performances as their highly anticipated event series begins in New York.

Among many talented international creatives, The Creators Project Launch Event NYC features Spike Jonze and special presentations of his robot love story I’m Here, musical performances by Interpol, Mark Ronson, The Rapture, N.A.S.A., and Die Antwoord among others, as well as visual installations from United Visual Artists, Radical Friend, Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and the omnipresent Graffiti Research Lab and many more.

Click here to RSVP for the FREE event (with registration) by tonight at 11:59 eastern standard time!

From the Creators:

“The Creators Project event series—a roving global celebration—launches this summer on June 26, when The Creators rolls into 80,000-square-feet of display and performance space honeycombed throughout the legendary Milk Studios in New York’s Meatpacking District.

The event is going to be a groundbreaking combination of interactive art and installations, panels, workshops, screenings, and live performances. As much as The Creators Project is a digital archive of our digital world, it is also a testament to the enduring appeal of the Real. Many of the artists within the program explore the way that digitally manipulated images, sounds, and motions converge in real time, in real spaces.”

Saturday, June 26th, 2pm-2am

Get on the Floor for Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor”

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

Major Lazer (Diplo and Switch) does it again for Mad Decent, this time following up their last azz kicking video with some major dancehall daggering. No stranger to outlandish music videos himself (watch Dance Floor Dale get downright nasty when you have some privacy), Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! directs this clip which features a virtual house full of some of Jamaica’s best daggerers, dancers, and funny face makers.

Headlining the night’s shenanigans is the world premiere of Eric’s new music video for Major Lazer/Diplo for “Pon De Floor” (check out Major Lazer’s first azz kicking video here).

Major Lazer Kickz Major Azz

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Equipped with a lazer for an arm and a beret atop his head, Mad Decent’s Major Lazer (a.k.a. Diplo and Switch) takes the battle to vampires, mummys, and knife-wielding bad dudes who drool a lot. The djs’ inaugral music video, which looks like it was ripped from the pages of a Heavy Metal magazine or Ralph Bashki cartoon, features the lovely Santigold and Mr. Lexx. Watch, be amazed, save your money for the action figures, and always remember: “Gunz don’t kill people, Lazers do”.

Album available June 16!

Jaydiohead Makes the Mashup Officially Dead

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

First there was Danger Mouse as he blew everyone’s mind with the Grey Album, a virtuoso mashup of epic proportions using Jay-Z’s The Black Album and The BeatlesThe White Album. Soon after, Diplo and Girl Talk surfaced and continued to mash proper as they created high quality remixes heard on dance floors around the world. Now comes some dude who goes by the name of Minty Fresh Beats with his offering of Jaydiohead. You think to yourself, ”Hmm…pretty questionable album title…but so what? I love Jay-Z and Radiohead, what could possibly go wrong?” Unfortunately soon after you listen to the first few tracks y

ou may find out, as I did, that you now actually don’t like some dude named Minty Fresh Beats. Well, at least he tried. And it’s free.

Click here or image below to download Jaydiohead, if you dare.
