The Mighty Mos Dub

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Free music for your Friday featuring the mighty Mos Def deftly remixed with classic reggae beats in the album simply dubbed Mos Dub.

So as it turns out Max Tannone, the DJ/producer responsible for the Jay-Z/Radiohead muddled mashup called Jaydiohead, made up for his inaugural outing with a Beastie Boys remix album titled Doublecheck Your Head (download here). The Beasties remixed against their own beats turned out to be a solid sophomore outing for Max. Now the kid is back and it seems the third time’s the charm as he offers up a reggae influenced Mos Def worthy of a definite download.

Download Mos Dub by clicking here or below.

More remixed/mashed music to tune into:

The Wu-Beatles Clan: The Instrumentals

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

In a follow up to last month’s post on the extraordinary Wu/Beatles mash album, Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers by producer Tom Caruana, comes the instrumentals for your mentals (or some other zany whacked out RZA saying). And if you haven’t downloaded the original album yet what are you waiting for, it’s PFG (pretty f’ing good) and FREE!

Download both Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers and the instrumental version here.

More from the maestro:

“Hope you’ve been enjoying Enter The Magical Mystery Chambers. Thank you for supporting by downloading, spreading the word and leaving messages. I had a lot of fun putting it together, and had no idea what kind of response it would receive. So far it has been downloaded around 40,000 times, written about on numerous blogs, and I have been interviewed by the New York Times for their Artsbeat Blog. Have a read…

Instrumentals and radio edits are now available for free download on the Wu vs Beatles page.

The Magical Mystery Podcast is also now available on the podcast page. It includes exclusive tracks that were left off the album, Beatles songs and covers, and some other Beatles related things found during the making of the album.”

The White Hip-Hop Stripes

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Remember when I declared the mashup “officialy” dead with that lame Jay-Z/Radiohead album? Yeah, well maybe I spoke to soon ’cause a fellow champion named Adrian Champion just resurrected music’s Frankenstein monster with his White Stripes vs. just about every hip-hop great from the 90’s re-imagining called Stars and Stripes and is a (free) must download along with it’s instrumental version!

Highlights from the 13 track album include:

  • “Bombs Over Orchids” (The White Stripes “Blue Orchid”+Outkast “Bombs Over Bagdad”)
  • “Icky Says” (The White Stripes “Icky Thump” + Pharoahe Monch “Simon Says”)
  • “Ms. Doorbell” (The White Stripes “My Doorbell”+Mos Def “Ms. Fat Booty”)
  • “Cash Run” (The White Stripes + Notorious B.I.G. & 2Pac “Oddz+Endz”)
  • “One More Corner” (Common w/ Kanye “The Corner”-a song I know well as I edited the music video a few years ago)

Sooo…um, yeah…as I was saying, the Mashup is dead, long live the Mashup!

Jaydiohead Makes the Mashup Officially Dead

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

First there was Danger Mouse as he blew everyone’s mind with the Grey Album, a virtuoso mashup of epic proportions using Jay-Z’s The Black Album and The BeatlesThe White Album. Soon after, Diplo and Girl Talk surfaced and continued to mash proper as they created high quality remixes heard on dance floors around the world. Now comes some dude who goes by the name of Minty Fresh Beats with his offering of Jaydiohead. You think to yourself, ”Hmm…pretty questionable album title…but so what? I love Jay-Z and Radiohead, what could possibly go wrong?” Unfortunately soon after you listen to the first few tracks y

ou may find out, as I did, that you now actually don’t like some dude named Minty Fresh Beats. Well, at least he tried. And it’s free.

Click here or image below to download Jaydiohead, if you dare.
