Gabriel Reese’s (aka Specter) clever faux-advertising pieces can currently be seen around the streets of Brooklyn as they speak on what’s going on in the community as well as promoting MoCADA’s (Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts) group show The Gentrification of Brooklyn: The Pink Elephant Speaks which opens tomorrow night in, of course, Brooklyn.

More from MoCADA:
“This exhibition, guest curated by Dexter Wimberly, will examine how urban planning, imminent domain, and real estate development are affecting Brooklyn’s communities and how residents throughout the borough are responding. The exhibition will include the works of several Brooklyn-based artists, as well as those who have been forced to relocate as a result of gentrification. In addition to works of art featured at MoCADA, there will be a schedule of public programs taking place throughout Brooklyn.”
“Os Gêmeos (Portuguese for “The Twins”) are identical twin brothers from São Paulo, Brazil. They started painting graffiti in 1987 and gradually became a major influence in the local scene, helping to define Brazil’s own style. Stylistically, Os Gêmeos are heavily influenced by the cryptic art of the São Paulo–based pixação graffiti movement as well as American hip-hop, which the twins grew up with in Brazil.”

“On February 2, one of Marvel’s most epic sagas of all-time lands in stores on DVD and Blu-ray Disc as “Planet Hulk” makes its incredible animated debut. However, this Thursday, January 14, the gamma-irradiated excitement hits a new level when The Paley Center for Media plays host on two coasts to the exclusive first screenings of the film, along with panels featuring comic and animation talent, as well as limited edition giveaways and creator signings.
Co-sponsored by New York Comic Con and Newsarama.com in association with Marvel Animation and Lionsgate Home Entertainment, the screenings will begin at 6:30 PM local time in New York City and Los Angeles respectively with panel discussions and signings following immediately after at 8:30 PM.”
Hope everyone continues to enjoy their new gifts and holiday time off this upcoming new year’s. For me it’s back to the non-stop Tribe editing grind as we find a way to finish the film for next week’s rough screening. And speaking of “Find a Way”…
