MANIFESTEQUALITY, one of the biggest and most important contemporary art shows to come to Los Angeles in recent memory, holds it’s closing night party tonight in Hollywood. The massive show, which features works from over 200 artists in the name of equal rights, held it’s opening night’s party on Wednesday (coverage to come) and is worth checking out and supporting. That is, of course, if you enjoy art and supporting other human beings.

No, not THE Continental with Christopher Walken, the Continental Gallery downtown which is hosting my fellow Academy of Art film alum Matthias Koenigswieser and five of his contemporaries in the group show, Focus Daily. Detailed info on the show here.
From the Continental:
“Focus Daily renders the works of six young contemporary artists – Lukas Gansterer, Matthias Koenigswieser, Ulrich Nausner, Thomas Rhube, Clemens Wolf from Austria and Joseph Kosir from Netherlands - whose prolific and joint collaboration lead to their first collective exhibition in Los Angeles. Diverse media (photography, video, installation and painting) merge to set conceptual images of an exposed contemporaneousness, engaging relations between individual and outer world, investigating and challenging dominant rules and social conventions, exploring new communicative visual imagery.”

Focus Daily
Opening reception: Saturday, March 6th, 6-9pm
Continental Gallery
408 South Spring St. Los Angeles, CA 90013
Show runs from March 6 through 28, 2010

Painter, photographer, pro skateboarder, loving husband, Toy Machine leader, vegan. Ed Templeton is many a thing. But as Ed describes himself and his artistic brethren in our film Beautiful Losers, “In titling the show Beautiful Losers, that gave it a label and people are now ‘oh, you’re a beautiful loser’. Well you can’t tag me as a one thing or the other, you can’t tag anyone in the show as just a painter, as just a photographer…we’re just artists.”
Ed’s The Seconds Pass passes through Roberts & Tilton in Culver City starting this Friday.
Read and see more from the mind of Ed at his Toy Machine blog here.

My good pal Moral is a passionate promoter of good causes as well as an equally passionate party thrower, so it should come as no surprise that the two should meet for the silent art auction benefit For the Love of Haiti at downtown’s Studio Morke. Items up for bidding include the art of Patrick Hoelck, Samuel Bayer and the Clayton Brothers among others, as well as massages, meals and wine tastings.
100% of the evenings proceeds go to the relief efforts of Doctors Without Borders.
