Help Haiti with The Haiti Poster Project

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Going on sale today are hundreds of posters designed with good intentions from the Haiti Poster Project which helps the victims of January’s devastating earthquake in Haiti. Made possible by a collaboration of artists and designers from around the world, sales from all proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders.

So unless you’re a racist conservative who doesn’t like helping people in need, or a Christian broadcaster who thinks Haitians deserved the earthquake because of their “pact to the devil”, or you just don’t like art, click here or the images below to peruse the ever growing collection of poster art for sale.

From the Haiti Poster Project:

THE HAITI POSTER PROJECT was launched three days after the January 12th, 2010 earthquake in Haiti. The project is a collaborative effort by the design community to help effect change through our work. Signed and numbered, limited edition posters have been donated by designers and artists from around the world. All money raised will be donated to Doctors Without Borders.”

More Pacman Print From Alan Hynes

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Yesterday’s Pacquiao print post was truly a hit (pun sooo intended) as word got around to the artist himself, Mr. Alan Hynes. As far as I’ve seen, and I’ve done a fair share of searching, Alan’s Pacman print is one of the first and only art prints to have been created in honor of Manny Pacquiao which makes this powerful print even more of a statement. Created exclusively for Gallery 1988’s poster show, The Greatest Moments in Sports History, the print exists in an extremely limited edition run of only 80 screenprints. For a detailed look and to get ‘em while they last, click here or the pics below.

From Alan:

“I was just forwarded a link to your blog post about my Pacquiao print, I very much appreciate you talking about the print- any positive exposure for boxing and Manny Pacquiao is great in my book. I’ve attached a couple of photos which give a better look at the actual print.”

And to see more of and to purchase Alan’s elaborately rock fueled designs, please visit Gigposters.com as well as Offthewallposters.com.

THURSDAY (March 4): The Greatest Moments in Sports History

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Sports posters have been a part of kids’ rooms for as long as kids rooms have been around. And as those kids grow up it seems as though art, in some form or another, starts to take hold of their imaginations and replaces some of that old sports imagery. But often times the two worlds come together and form a perfect “adult kids room” of sorts as evidenced in the Gallery 1988 Los Angeles and OMG Posters team up, The Greatest Moments in Sports History.

Check out some of the work on Gallery 1988’s blog here.

The Greatest Moments in Sports History (A Poster Show)
Opening reception: Thursday, March 4, 7-10pm
Gallery 1988 Los Angeles
7020 Melrose Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90038
Show runs from March 4 through 26, 2010
