Tell Them Anything You Want, the brilliant short documentary on Maurice Sendak filmed by Spike Jonze and Lance Bangs during the making of Jonze’s adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are, will be playing theatrically one night only at New York’s IFC Center. This exclusive screening also concludes with a special Q&A session with directors Spike Jonze and Lance Bangs.
Back in December we got a taste of David Cross’ new comedy sandwich which featured Will Arnett, Spike Jonze and Cross as the titular character in the UK (Channel 4) comedy The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. And thanks to a little something called “the interwebs”, us Americanos get to laugh at Todd Margaret’s poor decision making as well. Here’s the pilot episode of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret in three bite-sized portions suitable for snacking throughout the day.
And Speaking of Spike, here’s a clever and surprisingly fitting video mash of James Gandolfini’s iconic Tony Soprano voicing Carol from Jonze’s adaptation of Where the Wild Things Are.
And speaking of Sundance, Spike Jonze opened the festival last night with his 35 minute short film about young robots in love with I’m Here. For those watching films in Utah this week and next, be sure to check this screening schedule and catch I’m Here when you’re there!
And more from Graham at Spike’s lovely site We Love You So:
“It’s a robot romance and a futuristic fable rooted in the universal emotions of first love, ruminating on youth, identity, autonomy and loss. What began as a small project in the wake of Where the Wild Things Are.
These clunky, sensitive machines feel as familiar as old friends by the end of the film, thanks in no small part to the same subtle special effects wizardry that brought the Wild Things’ facial features to life. Spike snapped the image above (first pic below) in the final screening to approve special effects shots before quickly blossomed into a 35-minute tale that provided Spike ample room to fully flesh out his melancholy heroes, a pair of robot lovers. I’m Here’s worldwide premiere.”

Hoping you’re work week doesn’t start out like Todd Margaret’s (David Cross). Or actually now that I think about it, maybe hoping it does. David Cross, Will Arnett and Spike Jonze in the opening scene from the English comedy The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. Pilot premieres in December, unfortunately only in the U.K.
