Not only is it awesomely cool that Wes Anderson’s film adaptation of Roald Dahl’sFantastic Mr. Foxwon the Special Filmmaking Achievement Award from the National Board of Review, but for him to create a stop motion acceptance speech to go along with it is just as brilliant.

PES, one of today’s masters of stop motion filmmaking (Western Spaghetti, Game Over, Fireworks), has given us another film to fawn over. This time it’s a peeing peanut. Yes, a peeing peanut. Co-starring a ruby red fly and a gold plated fish swimming in an ocean of jewelry. You know, standard stuff.
When the combo platter of graffiti artist Blu and artist/filmmaker David Ellis get together the possibilities are limitless. The appropriately titled COMBO is one of those possibilities. Though not as impressive or groundbreaking as MUTO (Blu’s 2008 must-see masterpiece), COMBO is certainly a visionary collabo that must be seen to be appreciated.
Wes Anderson’s film adaptation of Roald Dahl’sFantastic Mr. Fox (due out this Novemeber) get’s two new featurette treatments; one a behind the scenes look at the making of the film narrated by Jason Schwartzman, and the other features Felicity Dahl (Roald’s wife), Anderson’s inspiration for Mr. Fox (Dahl himself) and his fantastic world (their country side home).

Is there a better way to welcome you back from the last holiday weekend of summer than with a couple of Japanese stuffed animals playing ukuleles? I didn’t think so.
