Do yourself a favor and and give yourself a swift “kick” to the brain if you haven’t already seen Inception. You’ll understand what I’m talking about once you’ve witnessed for yourself some of the most creative and innovative film concepts to grace the silver screen in a very, very long time. Directing a supremely talented cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Ken Wantanabe, Michael Caine, Cillian Murphy and newcomer Tom Hardy, Christopher Nolan is shaping up to quite possibly be the most ambitious and polished director of our generation.
Also…below are some videos (trailer, featurettes) for those who simply need another Inception fix as well as for those who don’t know what they’re missing. Yet.

Featurette with words from master film maker Christopher Nolan
Is it possible that the French have cornered the market on visually arresting contemporary films? The more I think of the filmographies of directors such as Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, amazing music videos) and even Louis Leterrier to an extent (The Incredible Hulk, Clash of the Titans), the more I think that bold statement may be true. Especially when you take into account the French director who caught my eye in the first place, Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
If you enjoyed Jeunet’s previous cinematic classics Amélie, The City of Lost Children or Delicatessen, then there’s no reason why you won’t be looking forward to his latest genius offering, Micmacs (in theaters May 28th). And now without any further adieu…
So just how did filmmaker Michel Gondry develop the uniquely quirky vision of Michel Gondry? Probably from hanging around a cousin who suffered a mental breakdown thanks in part to his schoolteacher aunt who teaches children to wear invisible costumes. You know, just how you imagined he would.
And speaking of Sundance, Spike Jonze opened the festival last night with his 35 minute short film about young robots in love with I’m Here. For those watching films in Utah this week and next, be sure to check this screening schedule and catch I’m Here when you’re there!
And more from Graham at Spike’s lovely site We Love You So:
“It’s a robot romance and a futuristic fable rooted in the universal emotions of first love, ruminating on youth, identity, autonomy and loss. What began as a small project in the wake of Where the Wild Things Are.These clunky, sensitive machines feel as familiar as old friends by the end of the film, thanks in no small part to the same subtle special effects wizardry that brought the Wild Things’ facial features to life. Spike snapped the image above (first pic below) in the final screening to approve special effects shots before quickly blossomed into a 35-minute tale that provided Spike ample room to fully flesh out his melancholy heroes, a pair of robot lovers. I’m Here’s worldwide premiere.”
With lot’s of people leaving town today, I wanted to wish everyone a happy early Thanksgiving before eating like Pilgrims and Indians tomorrow. But this themed post is especially dedicated to my vegan brother Justin out in New York, who loves both the fleshy blood and gore of Eli Roth movies as well as the fleshless non-meat of Tofurkys. Bon appetit!
And speaking of the N.A.S.A boys…Among the plethora of amazing artists and classic songs included on the upcoming DJ Hero video game (October 27th), the robo electro gods known as Daft Punk have remixed N.A.S.A.’s“Strange Enough” featuring Karen O, ODB and Fatlip with their own anthem “Da Funk”.
